E-Exports Become Türkiye’s New Growth Engine, Says TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe

ISTANBUL — E-exports have emerged as Türkiye’s new engine of export-led growth, with the country making significant progress in digital trade as businesses increasingly expand into global markets through online sales channels, Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman Mustafa Gültepe said.

Speaking on the rapid development of the sector, Gültepe said Türkiye has achieved strong momentum in e-exports thanks to expanding digital infrastructure, government incentives and the growing international reach of Turkish brands. He emphasized that e-commerce exports are no longer a niche activity but a strategic pillar of the country’s export growth.

According to Gültepe, Türkiye aims to increase the share of e-exports in total goods exports in the coming years by encouraging more companies—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—to sell directly to consumers abroad through digital marketplaces and their own online platforms.

He noted that thousands of Turkish companies have already entered international e-commerce channels, enabling them to reach customers in Europe, the Middle East, North America and other global markets without the need for traditional distribution networks.

Gültepe highlighted that public support programs, digital transformation initiatives and logistics investments have played a key role in accelerating cross-border online trade. He added that improving exporters’ digital capabilities and strengthening fulfillment infrastructure will be essential to sustaining growth.

Türkiye has set ambitious export targets, with TİM viewing e-exports as one of the fastest-growing contributors to overall export performance. Gültepe said expanding value-added, technology-driven exports through digital channels will help the country strengthen its global competitiveness and diversify its export base.
