Turkiye: Foreign trade indices for July were announced

Export unit value index decreased by 2.1% and import unit value index decreased by 15.7% in July compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the foreign trade indices for July.

Accordingly, the export unit value index decreased by 2.1% in July compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to July 2022, the index decreased by 3.4% in food, beverages and tobacco, by 16.1% in raw materials (excluding fuel), and by 34.3% in fuels. In the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco), it increased by 2.7%.

Export quantity index increased

Export quantity index increased by 10.6% in July compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same period, the index increased by 47.9% in food, beverages and tobacco, 3.9% in raw materials (excluding fuel), 17.9% in fuels and 4.7% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

The import quantity index increased by 31% on an annual basis in July. During this period, the index recorded an increase of 42.4% in food, beverages and tobacco, 10.9% in raw materials (excluding fuel), 10.8% in fuels, and 39.8% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Seasonally and calendar adjusted data

According to the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the export quantity index, which was 158.4 in June, decreased by 6.8% and became 147.6 in July. According to the series adjusted for calendar effects, the export quantity index, which was 143.9 in July 2022, increased by 0.1% to 144.1 in the same month of this year.

According to the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the import quantity index, which was 126.7 in June, increased by 8.5% and reached 137.4 in July. According to the series adjusted for calendar effects, the import quantity index, which was 121.3 in July 2022, increased by 20.5% and was recorded as 146.2 in July.

The terms of foreign trade, which is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index and was recorded as 77.1 in July 2022, increased by 12.5 points to 89.6 in July this year.
