Turkiye: Western Mediterranean’s 7-month exports exceeded $1.5 billion

Western Mediterranean Exporters’ Association (BAIB) member businesses, which include Antalya, Isparta and Burdur, exported $1 billion 546 million 112 thousand 684 in 7 months of this year.

Umit Mirza Cavusoglu, Chairman of the Board of BAIB, stated that $194 million 785 thousand 88 were sold from the region to abroad in July.

Noting that last month, the most exports were made from the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, Cavusoglu stated that the sector achieved $53 million 265 thousand 715 in foreign sales with an increase of 48.99%.

Record increase in exports to the UK and Turkmenistan in July

Stating that the highest exports were made to Germany, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan in July, Cavusoglu said, “The United Kingdom and Turkmenistan, which are in the fourth and fifth places of the list, almost broke a record in the increase in exports. Exports to the United Kingdom reached $8 million 642 thousand 730 with an increase of 137.31%, and to Turkmenistan $8 million 506 thousand 772 with an increase of 242.14%.”

Cavusoglu stated that $1 billion 546 million 112 thousand 684 were exported from the region between January 1 and July 31.

Noting that most of the foreign sales were made from the fresh fruit and vegetable sector in this period, Cavusoglu said:

“The export of the sector was $540 million 130 thousand 651 and exceeded half a billion dollars. The top 5 exports from the region were respectively mining and metals, wood products and forest products, chemistry and ferrous metals sectors. In this process, the highest number of product shipments were made to Germany. Germany was followed by Russia, China, Ukraine and Romania.”
