İZMİR – A team of four entrepreneurs in İzmir, including architects and software developers, has created a mobile application that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) to design interior spaces in seconds, offering furniture and decoration suggestions tailored to the space.
Inspired by the lengthy time interior designers spend on sketches and layouts, architect and game designer Zeynep Özge Yalçın wanted to develop an AI-powered tool to simplify the design process. She teamed up with colleagues Kardelen Türkoğlu, Nupelda Sibel Acat, and software engineer Ozan Can Durdu to bring the project to life.
Working from their office in İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE) Technopark, the team developed an application capable of designing five interiors in just 30 seconds and suggesting furniture suitable for the room’s dimensions.
How the App Works
Using the smartphone camera, the app quickly measures the interior, identifies all existing furniture and empty spaces, and produces a 3D design tailored to the user’s budget. It also provides furniture and decoration recommendations, which users can purchase directly with a single click.
“The app combines architectural design, interior architecture, AI, and AR technologies,” Yalçın told Anadolu Agency. “Users will be able to download it to their phones. Based on your budget, survey answers, and scans of your space, we generate a customized design suggestion. Not only do we propose designs, but we also allow users to purchase recommended furniture and décor in one click.”
The company was established with co-investment from TÜBİTAK, and the demo version of the app will be released in February, followed by the full product.
