The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has announced that supply or electricity generation license holders intending to export or import electricity to and from Iraq must submit their applications by January 13.
Application Details for Electricity Trade with Iraq
According to the announcement published on the EPDK’s official website, applications are being accepted under the provisions of the Electricity Market Import and Export Regulation. Companies wishing to engage in electricity export to Iraq or import from Iraq via the existing 400 kV Cizre-Kasek interconnection line must submit their applications by the end of business hours on January 13.
Alfirin Energy’s Request for Capacity Allocation
In addition, Alfirin Enerji Ticaret AŞ, a licensed supplier, has requested a license amendment to secure a maximum capacity allocation of 300 megawatts for two years. The company aims to use the interconnection line to export electricity to Iraq under the isolated zone supply method starting from the date of the license amendment.
This move highlights the potential for increased energy cooperation between Turkey and Iraq, facilitating electricity trade to meet regional energy needs.
