Eti Alüminyum continued to strengthen its industrial infrastructure in 2025 by expanding its production portfolio with value-added products, supported by ongoing rolling mill investments, R&D initiatives, and green energy projects, the company said in a statement.
The company aims to build more qualified and strategic production capabilities across aluminum’s broad range of applications, from the defense industry to advanced industrial uses. In 2025, Eti Alüminyum restructured its production strength around product diversity and technical expertise, reinforcing capabilities for strategic sectors while supporting its more than 50-year-long operations in Seydişehir, Konya, through investments focused on R&D, efficiency, and sustainability.
Rolling Mill Investment to Reduce Imports
One of Eti Alüminyum’s key investments in 2025 is the new rolling mill project currently under construction, with a total investment exceeding TRY 10 billion. The facility is planned to start operations with an initial capacity of 100,000 tons, which is expected to increase to 200,000–250,000 tons in later phases.
Through this investment, Eti Alüminyum aims to produce hot- and cold-rolled aluminum products domestically, which are critical for the defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing industries. The project is expected to reduce Turkey’s dependence on imports of flat aluminum products, prevent approximately $600 million in annual imports, and support long-term employment and economic activity in Seydişehir.
R&D Opens New Production Areas
Alongside capacity investments, Eti Alüminyum strengthened its production capabilities through R&D activities in 2025. As part of these efforts, the company commissioned a special alumina production line, targeting an annual capacity of 40,000 tons. This high-purity material, required for strategic fields such as defense, ceramics, and thermal insulation, has now begun to be produced domestically.
In addition, a pilot production study to recover lithium from bauxite residue, a by-product of aluminum production, was successfully completed. Test processes also continue for the domestic production of catalysts used in the petrochemical industry, with the aim of localizing currently imported inputs if results prove favorable.
Expanding Green Energy Capacity
Eti Alüminyum also strengthened its green transformation strategy in 2025 by integrating energy investments into its production operations. In addition to 189 megawatts of installed solar capacity in Seydişehir, the company commissioned 95 MW in Gaziantep and 4 MW in Çumra.
With a planned 42 MW solar power plant in Sivas, Eti Alüminyum aims to increase its total installed solar capacity to 330 megawatts. These renewable energy investments form the backbone of the company’s long-term “green aluminum” vision, which targets sourcing all electricity used in production from clean energy.
The transition, which began with the Oymapınar Hydroelectric Power Plant, has been expanded through solar investments to permanently strengthen a low-carbon production approach.
Environmental and Human Capital Investments
Supporting its low-carbon strategy with on-the-ground environmental responsibility practices, Eti Alüminyum planted 37,900 saplings as part of Turkey’s National Afforestation Day on November 11. The trees are expected to remove approximately 490 tons of carbon annually from the atmosphere as they grow.
In 2025, the company also continued investments in human capital development. Under the Industry Z.0 Program, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, students from Seydişehir Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School received scholarships, internships, and hands-on training.
Since the program’s launch, 200 students have completed internships at Eti Alüminyum facilities, while 180 students have received scholarships. Supported by mentoring from Eti Alüminyum engineers, the program continues as a sustainable model strengthening industry–education cooperation.
Executive Commentary
Eti Alüminyum General Manager Mehmet Arkan said aluminum is no longer merely an industrial input but a strategic building block across fields ranging from defense and energy to advanced technologies and green transformation.
“Our focus in 2025 has been to strengthen the production and technology infrastructure that will position Eti Alüminyum at the center of this transformation,” Arkan said. “With our rolling mill investment, R&D projects, and green energy initiatives, we believe the steps we are taking today will create higher value, stronger competitiveness, and a more sustainable industrial structure in the years ahead. With this vision, we aim to make Eti Alüminyum a production force capable of meeting not only today’s needs but also those of the future.”
