EU passenger car registrations fall for 10th straight month in May

Registrations of new passenger cars in EU drops 13.7% in January-May period

Passenger car registrations in the EU fell 11.2% annually in May, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) reported on Thursday.

Total registrations of new passenger cars fell to 791,546 units, marking the 10th consecutive month of decline, according to the latest ACEA figures.

Italy saw the steepest annual decline with 15.1%, followed by Spain with 10.9%, Germany 10.2% and France 10.1%.

During the first five months of 2022,registrations of new passenger cars in the EU declined by 13.7%, compared to the same period of last year.

In the January-May period, Italy saw the most decline with 24.3%, followed by France at 16.9%, Spain with 11.5%, and Germany at 9.3%.
