European stock markets close higher on Friday

Euro recovers slightly against US dollar at $1.0098

European stock markets gained ground on Friday, making up for some of the previous day’s losses.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up 7.28 points, or 1.79%, to finish at 413.78.

The UK’s FTSE 100 increased 119 points, or 1.69%, to close at 7,159.

Germany’s DAX 30 was the best performer of the day, soaring 345 points, or 2.76%, to 12,864.

France’s CAC 40 rose 120 points, or 2.04%, to 6,036.

Italy’s FTSE MIB added 378 points,or 1.84%, to end the day at 20,933. Spain’s IBEX 35 increased 141 points, or 1.81%, to finish at 7,945.

The euro recovered slightly against the US dollar, reading at $1.0098.
