Turkiye’s Petroleum Imports Increased by 15.7% in December Last Year

According to the “Petroleum Market Sector Report” for December by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, Turkey’s total petroleum and petroleum product imports increased by 15.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 4,342,141 tons.

Within this period, crude oil, the largest component of Turkey’s total petroleum imports, increased by 28.1%, reaching 2,902,839 tons.

The import of diesel types decreased by 6.52%, reaching 1,019,295 tons during this period.

The remaining part of the import consists of aviation and maritime fuels, gasoline, fuel oil types, and other products.

As a result, total imports increased by 15.7% in December last year compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 4,342,141 tons.

The largest imports of crude oil and petroleum products, amounting to 1,779,633 tons, were from Russia, followed by Iraq with 508,768 tons and Kazakhstan with 215,116 tons.

On the other hand, gasoline sales increased by 11.63% to 352,067 tons, and diesel sales increased by 1.13% to 2,272,578 tons in December compared to the same month of the previous year.

Total petroleum product sales increased by 1.83%, reaching 2,777,310 tons.

Petroleum product exports increased by 66.3% Turkey’s aviation fuel exports increased by 90.8% to 515,316 tons in December compared to the same month of the previous year, while maritime fuel exports decreased by 39.23% to 53,427 tons.

Exports of gasoline types increased by 234.7% to 258,219 tons, while exports of diesel types decreased by 0.95% to 266,518 tons.

The total export of other products in the petroleum market increased by 66.3%, reaching 1,312,259 tons.

In December last year, diesel production increased by 8.81% to 1,579,630 tons compared to the same month of the previous year, gasoline production increased by 53.9% to 549,970 tons, and aviation fuel production increased by 68.3% to 509,935 tons. Maritime fuel production decreased by 26.9% to 42,656 tons.

The total production of refinery petroleum products, including other fuel types, increased by approximately 18.2%, reaching 3,283,741 tons.
