Turkish Exports Rise Across 54 Provinces, Istanbul Leads with $4.075 Billion in April

The Ministry of Commerce announced that exports increased in 54 provinces in Turkiye between January and April. According to data, Istanbul was the city with the highest exports in April with $4 billion 75 million.

The Ministry of Commerce announced that 17 provinces exported over $1 billion in the January-April period, and exports increased in 54 provinces. Istanbul was the province with the highest exports in April with $4 billion 75 million.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, in April 2024, exports increased by 0.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching $19 billion 271 million, and increased by 2.7% in the January-April period, reaching $82 billion 873 million.

The precious and semi-precious stones section ranked first in Istanbul’s exports with $776 million 999 thousand. This chapter was followed by knitted clothing items and accessories with $399 million 609 thousand, and boilers and machines with $392 million 187 thousand.

In Kocaeli’s exports, motor vehicles were the sector with the most exports with $760 million 680 thousand. This chapter was followed by mineral fuels and mineral oils with $364 million 242 thousand, and iron and steel with $169 million 599 thousand.

Mineral fuels and mineral oils ranked first in Izmir’s exports with $554 million 332 thousand. The said chapter was followed by boilers and machinery with $169 million 739 thousand, and iron and steel with $127 million 397 thousand.

COUNTRIES TO WHICH TURKIYE’S TOP 3 PROVINCES EXPORT THE MOST

England ranked first in Istanbul’s exports with $340 million 313 thousand. This country was followed by Germany with $294 million 918 thousand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with $252 million 439 thousand.

Kocaeli, on the other hand, exported the most to Germany with $175 million 891 thousand. This country was followed by England with $163 million 268 thousand and the USA with $145 million 63 thousand.

The country to which Izmir exported the most was Romania with $211 million 176 thousand. This country was followed by Germany with $165 million 772 thousand and the USA with $118 million 99 thousand.

HATAY IS THE CITY THAT INCREASED ITS EXPORTS THE MOST

Hatay was recorded as the province that increased its exports the most in April, with a 78% increase and $497 million compared to the same month of the previous year. In the January-April period of 2024, 17 provinces exported over $1 billion, and 54 provinces increased their exports.

The statement noted that the Ministry continues its determined efforts to increase exports through policies and strategies focused on market and product diversification in high value-added and competitive export perspectives, aiming for a strong spread of exports across our country. The statement also emphasized, “On the other hand, we aim for exports to spread strongly across our country. We target a more prosperous Turkiye as a result of increased production and employment achieved locally.”
