Export record from Turkiye to France

Turkiye realized the highest January-February export of all time to France with $1 billion 532 million. France was registered as the 6th country to which Turkiye exports the most.

Despite the uncertainties in the global economy, Turkiye continues to break records in exports. Turkish companies, which maintain their effectiveness in trade with Europe, continue their exports to the region without slowing down.

One of the countries where Turkiye broke an export record was France, one of the leading economies in Europe. Being the 7th largest economy in the world and the second country with the highest population in the European Union (EU) after Germany, France is among the economies with significant export potential for Turkiye.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye realized the highest January-February export of all time to France with $1 billion 532 million.

Turkiye’s exports to France increased by 15.7% in the first 2 months of the year compared to the same period of 2022, while the share of France in total exports was 4%. France was also recorded as the 6th country to which Turkiye exports the most.

With $208 million $441 thousand, France became the third country in which Turkiye’s exports increased the most in terms of value.

Most demand came from the automotive industry

From a sectoral perspective, the industrial sector came to the fore in exports to France. The top 8 sectors that export the most to the country are within the industry.

The automotive industry made the most exports to France with $628 million 680 thousand. Automotive was followed by ready-made clothing and apparel with $195 million 869 thousand, electricity and electronics with $136 million 515 thousand, and chemicals and products with $96 million 934 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $93 million 459 thousand, machinery and accessories with $55 million 196 thousand, steel with $50 million 809 thousand and air conditioning industry with $50 million 706 thousand.

The sectors in which the country showed the least demand were ornamental plants and products with $160 thousand, tobacco with $302 thousand, ship yachts and services with $411 thousand, olive and olive oil with $669 thousand, and other industrial products with $1 million 266 thousand.

Automotive industry is also the leader in export growth

In January-February 2023, the sector with the highest increase in exports to France in terms of value compared to the same period of the previous year was the automotive industry.

The automotive industry increased its exports to France by $242 million 221 thousand in this period. Automotive was followed by steel with an increase of $10 million 85 thousand, hazelnuts and their products with an increase of $5 million 387 thousand, air conditioning industry with an increase of $3 million 948 thousand, and cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products with an increase of $3 million 258 thousand.

Exports to France amounted to $29 million 499 thousand for hazelnuts and their products, and $12 million 779 thousand for grains, pulses, oil seeds and their products.

When looked at on the basis of provinces, $515 million 608 thousand from Istanbul, $278 million 976 thousand from Bursa, $245 million 77 thousand from Kocaeli, $100 million 738 thousand from Izmir and $84 million 966 thousand from Sakarya.
