Exports of $13.1 billion from Turkiye to North Africa in 2022

Last year, the chemicals and products, steel, cereals, pulses and oilseeds sectors came to the fore in exports from Turkiye to North African countries.

Turkiye’s exports to North African countries increased by 5.1% last year compared to 2021 and reached $13 billion 148 million.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s exports increased by 12.9% in 2022 compared to the previous year and reached $254 billion 210 million.

In 2022, over $13 billion were exported to North African countries, including $2 billion 968 million to Morocco, $1 billion 914 million to Algeria, $1 billion 505 million to Tunisia, $2 billion 408 million to Libya, $3 billion 928 million to Egypt and $423 million to Sudan.

Last month, $348.9 million were exported to Egypt, $212.9 million to Morocco, $183 million to Algeria, $212.3 million to Libya and $47.9 million to Sudan.

Top exporting sectors

Last year, the highest export to Algeria was the chemical materials and products sector with an increase of 29.5% and $330.1 million, and the steel industry with a 21.1% increase and $633.4 million to Morocco, Chemicals and products sector with 23% increase and $806.2 million to Egypt, steel industry to Tunisia with 6.5% increase and $250.4 million, Grains, pulses and oilseeds sector made a 45.6% increase and $365.1 million for Libya, and cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector for Sudan with an 110.7% increase and $126.1 million.

Last year, the province that exported the most to North African countries was Istanbul. $991 million were exported from Istanbul to Algeria, $1 billion 250 million to Morocco and $1 billion 721 million to Egypt, $698.9 million were exported to Tunisia, $1 billion 305 million to Libya and $153.4 million to Sudan.
