Exports of companies from Istanbul exceeded $40 billion in 5 months

Export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by 25.1% in the January-May period compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to $40 billion 856 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), companies from Istanbul continue to advance by a wide margin in exports.

Export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by 25.1% in the January-May period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $40 billion 856 million from $32 billion 652 million.

Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $8 billion 261 million in January-May exports, Bursa with $6 billion 358 million, Izmir with $5 billion 837 million, Ankara with $4 billion 360 million. Istanbul was followed by Gaziantep with $4 billion 293 million, Sakarya with $2 billion 242 million, Manisa with $2 billion 70 million, Denizli with $2 billion 43 million and Hatay with $1 billion 589 million.

While the companies delivered their products to 228 points of the world in 5 months of the year, the share of Turkey’s exports in the January-May period was 39.9%. In the 5 months of the year, companies from Istanbul realized the highest increase in exports on a quantity basis.

Export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by $8 billion 203 million in this period compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the export increase, Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $2 billion 79 million, Izmir with $1 billion 300 million, Ankara with $758 million 387 thousand, Gaziantep with $386 million 673 thousand, Hatay with $385 million 712 thousand, and Denizli with $365 million 647 thousand, Adana with $329 million 270 thousand, Mersin with $245 million 407 thousand and Kayseri with $218 million 693 thousand followed.

The highest demand came from the chemicals and products sector

In the 5 months of the year, the companies operating in the chemical materials and products sector made the most exports in Istanbul. Chemicals and products sector companies operating in the province made foreign sales of $6 billion 962 million in this period.

After this sector, ready-made clothing and apparel companies in Istanbul are $6 billion 16 million, companies in the steel sector $4 billion 845 million, companies operating in the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector $3 billion 582 million, electricity and electronics sector $3 billion 11 million in exports.

The sectors with the least foreign sales in Istanbul are ornamental plants and products with $7 million 134 thousand, olive and olive oil with $25 million 358 thousand, fresh fruits and vegetables with $36 million 774 thousand, other industrial products with $41 million 363 thousand, 59 tobacco sectors with a million $433 thousand.

Germany remains the market leader

Germany did not give up its market leadership in the export of companies from Istanbul.

In the January-May period, $3 billion 623 million were exported from Istanbul to Germany.

From the province, $2 billion 378 million were sold to the USA, $2 billion 77 million to the United Kingdom, $2 billion 3 million to Italy, and $1 billion 714 million to Spain.
