Exports to the Balkans exceeded $15.5 billion in 9 months

While exports to the Balkans increased by 24.9% in the 9 months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $15 billion 698 million, the highest export was made to Romania with $4 billion 776 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), exports of $15 billion 698 million were made to the Balkan geography, including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Greece, in 9 months of the year.

While this figure was at the level of $12 billion 571 million in the same period of last year, exports to the Balkans geography increased by 24.9% in the last year.

In the said period, the highest export among Balkan countries was made to Romania with $4 billion 776 million. Bulgaria with $3 billion 428 million, Greece with $2 billion 169 million, Serbia with $1 billion 302 million, and Slovenia with $1 billion 221 million followed Romania.

In the same period, $742 million 847 thousand were sold to Albania and $548 million 125 thousand to Bosnia and Herzegovina. $488 million 552 thousand were sold to Macedonia, $463 million 164 thousand to Kosovo, $439 million 164 thousand to Croatia and $118 million 677 thousand to Montenegro.

The highest increase is in Montenegro

Exports to the Balkan geography increased in 10 countries in the January-September period of this year compared to the same period of 2021. In one country, it decreased.

In this period, the highest increase in exports was realized in Montenegro with 60.2%. After Montenegro, the country with the highest increase in exports among Balkan countries was Albania with 43.4%.

In that period, Exports increased by 34.9% to Bulgaria, 34.1% to Romania, 29.4% to Macedonia, 28.2% to Croatia, 24.0% to Serbia, 21.5% to Kosovo, 21.3% to Bosnia and Herzegovina, 7.8% to Greece. Exports to Slovenia decreased by 3.1%.

47.9% of exports to the region come from Istanbul

When we look at the distribution of exports to the Balkan countries in the 9 months of the year on the basis of provinces, it was seen that the export from Istanbul to this geography was $7 billion 524 million.

With this amount, Istanbul alone shouldered 47.9% of exports of $15 billion 698 million to the Balkan countries.

The most exports came from chemicals and products sector

In the 9 months of this year, the chemical materials and products sector made the most exports to the Balkan geography. In this period, the chemical materials and products sector exported $2 billion 885 million to the Balkan countries.

This sector was followed by steel with $2 billion 695 million, automotive industry with $1 billion 948 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $1 billion 346 million, and electricity and electronics with $1 billion 18 million.
