Exports were made to 146 countries from Tekirdag in the first 3 months of 2021

In the January-March period of this year, Tekirdag exported $288 million worth of exports to 146 countries.

Going to become one of Turkey’s industrial centers and aiming to have an important place in international trade with its ports and production facilities, Tekirdag managed to increase its exports in the first 3 months of the year despite the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic that affected the world.

Tekirdag, which has land, sea, rail and air transportation facilities, offers the opportunity with its proximity to Istanbul and Europe, ranks second after Bursa in Turkey with its 14 Organized Industrial Zones, and sales of $288 million worth of export to 146 countries in the first quarter of 2021.

Trakya Development Agency (TRAKYAKA) Secretary General Mahmut Sahin told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Tekirdag continues to be the “driving force” of exports in Trakya. Stating that Tekirdag is the province with the highest exports in Trakya according to the data of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, Sahin said, “In the first three months of this year, $288 million were exported from Tekirdag. It is pleasing for our city that the numbers have increased despite the epidemic conditions.”

“THE MOST CHEMICALS, ELECTRONIC AND TEXTILE PRODUCTS WERE EXPORTED”

Stating that Tekirdag made the highest monthly export in its history in March this year, Sahin said:

“Tekirdag exported $85 million in January, $93.8 million in February and $109.1 million in March with a record increase. When we look at the first three months of last year, we see that the exports were $254 million. Among the most exported products of Tekirdag there are chemicals and products, electrical electronics, ready-made clothing and apparel, textile and raw materials, machinery and components, iron and non-ferrous metals, automotive industry, air conditioning industry, furniture, paper and forestry products, grains, pulses, oilseeds and products, cement, glass-ceramic and soil products, steel, leather and leather products, mining products.”

Pointing out that the countries to which Tekirdag exports the most are generally composed of developed western economies, Sahin said, “These countries are listed as Germany, Italy, USA, Bulgaria, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Romania, Iraq, Algeria, Russian Federation and Egypt. If the epidemic environment and the world economy do not give us new surprises, we believe that new records will be broken in exports this year.”

Sahin stated that the agency contributes to the development of economic activities and exports in Trakya and that they will continue to increase their services in this direction.
