Last year, more than half of Turkiye’s total automobile production was carried out in Bursa, which hosts important automotive companies.
According to the compilation of Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) data, the total automotive production of association member companies in 2023 amounted to 1 million 525 thousand 963 units, including tractors.
The automobile production of association member companies last year was recorded as 952 thousand 667, an increase of 17.5% compared to 2022.
The biggest contribution to Turkiye’s automobile production in 2023 was made by Bursa, where the factories of automotive companies OYAK Renault, TOFAS and Karsan are located.
OYAK Renault and TOFAS achieved 52.11% of Turkiye’s total automobile production with the production of 496 thousand 438 units. Bursa’s daily automobile production was 1360 on average. OYAK Renault factory operating in Nilufer district ranked first in the country with the production of 325 thousand 366 automobiles.
Hyundai Assan in Kocaeli ranked second with 242 thousand 16 units, Toyota operating in Sakarya ranked third by manufacturing 212 thousand 843 cars, and TOFAS in Bursa ranked 4th with a production of 171 thousand 72 units.
Last year, Ford Otosan’s automobile production was recorded as 1370.
Turkiye’s automobile exports increased by 16.1% in terms of units
In 2023, Turkiye’s automobile exports increased by 16.1% compared to 2022, increasing from 571 thousand 218 to 663 thousand 90 units.
Last year, OYAK Renault exported the most automobiles with 230 thousand 397 vehicles, as in production.
In exports, Hyundai Assan ranked second with 205 thousand 200 vehicles, Toyota ranked third with 184 thousand 797 vehicles and TOFAS ranked fourth with 42 thousand 696 cars.
While 55.1% of the total automobile production in Bursa was sent abroad, the contribution of OYAK Renault and TOFAS to Turkiye’s total automobile exports was 41.18%.
Bursa’s daily foreign sales number was approximately 748.
