Turkiye’s table olive exports reached $184.5 million

Aegean Exporters’ Association announced that $184 million 510 thousand worth of table olives were exported from Turkiye in the 2022-23 season.

According to the statement made by the union, Turkiye earned $137 million 705 thousand from 75 thousand 295 tons of black olives and $46 million 805 thousand from 25 thousand 76 tons of green olives this season. Turkiye increased its export revenue by $11 million 979 thousand compared to the previous season.

The number of countries to which table olives are exported from Turkiye reached 117.

Davut Er, President of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, whose views were included in the statement, stated that Turkiye has started to reap the rewards of its investments in the olive growing sector in the last 20 years.

Stating that the income of $184 million 510 thousand obtained from table olive exports this season was recorded as a record in the history of the Republic, Er said:

“More than 90% of our table olive exports are packaged. Our unit price increased by 17% in foreign currency compared to last season. We will strive to export more value-added products in the coming years. Despite the mid-season ban on bulk and barreled olive oil and pomace exports, we reached an export level of $948 million in the last year. If it weren’t for the bans, we would have exceeded the industry’s $1 billion target.”
