May 3, 2026 – Ankara

Türkiye’s Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, announced that the country’s exports reached a historic annualized level in April, highlighting resilience despite challenging global conditions.

In a statement shared on social media, Şimşek said that annualized exports rose to $275.8 billion, marking the highest level in Türkiye’s history.

Strong Performance Despite Global Challenges

Şimşek emphasized that the strong export performance comes at a time of difficult global economic conditions, underscoring the competitiveness of Türkiye’s production and export sectors.

“In this challenging global environment, we will continue to support sectors that generate foreign currency for our country and implement structural reforms that enhance competitiveness,” he stated.

Outlook for the Coming Period

While noting the positive export momentum, Şimşek also pointed to potential volatility in the global economy in the coming months. He indicated that fluctuations may increase in the second quarter of 2026 due to external economic developments.

Focus on Structural Reforms

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening Türkiye’s economic framework through structural reforms aimed at boosting productivity, increasing value-added production, and sustaining export growth.
