First Turkiye-EU High-Level Trade Dialogue to Commence Tomorrow

Key Discussions on Bilateral Trade Issues, Green and Digital Agendas, and Deepening Economic Cooperation

The inaugural meeting of the High-Level Trade Dialogue between Turkiye and the European Union will take place tomorrow in Brussels, co-chaired by Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis. This significant event will bring together representatives from the EU and Turkish business sectors for a morning roundtable discussion, followed by intergovernmental talks in the afternoon.

The dialogue aims to address bilateral trade issues, progress on the green and digital agendas, and explore areas of cooperation as outlined in the roadmap set during the Trade Working Group meeting in October 2023. Additionally, discussions will focus on deepening commercial and economic ties between Turkiye and the EU.

Established as part of the recommendations from the Joint Declaration on the Current Status of Turkiye-EU Political, Trade, and Economic Relations in November 2023, this dialogue will be a pivotal platform for addressing high-level trade and economic relations. It will also support positive steps towards updating the Customs Union, fostering enhanced reciprocity in Turkiye-EU relations.
