$2.4 billion from light commercial vehicle and truck exports

In the Turkish automotive industry, the export of “motor vehicles for transporting goods”, which includes light commercial vehicles, pickup trucks and trucks, was $2 billion 421 million in the January-June period.

According to the compilation of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB) data, the automotive industry exported $17 billion 337 million 288 thousand of products in the first half of this year. Exports of “motor vehicles for transporting goods”, which make up 14% of this figure, were recorded as $2 billion 421 million 32 thousand in the January-June period, with a decrease of 7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Last year, light commercial vehicles, pickup trucks and trucks were exported to 82 countries and autonomous and free zones.

The country to which the sector exports the most in this product group in the January-June period was the United Kingdom. In the January-June period of last year, $649 million 491 thousand of “motor vehicles for transporting goods” were exported to the United Kingdom, while in the January-June period of this year, $570 million 388 thousand were exported with a decrease of 12%.

These exports to the United Kingdom constituted 23.55% of the total light commercial vehicle-pickup truck and truck exports in the January-June period.

Exports to Slovenia, which ranks second, increased by 11% compared to the same period of 2022 and reached $327 million 232 thousand from $294 million 697 thousand.

Exports of sector representatives to Italy, which ranks third, in the January-June period increased by 4.33% compared to the same period of 2022. Exports to this country, which were $312 million 396 thousand in the January-June period last year, increased to $325 million 926 thousand in the same period of this year.

Light commercial vehicle-truck exports to France, which is in fourth place, were $263 million 588 thousand in the January-June period of 2022, while it was recorded as $322 million 931 thousand with an increase of 22.5% in the same period of this year.

8 of the top 10 countries are EU members

Belgium’s light commercial vehicle-truck exports, which ranked fifth in the first half of the year, decreased by 11% compared to the same period of the previous year, from $205 million 172 thousand to $181 million 152 thousand.

Spain ranked 6th with $123 million 57 thousand, the USA ranked 7th with $69 million 486 thousand, Germany 8th with $66 million 471 thousand, and Denmark 9th with $51 million 134 thousand, Australia ranked 10th with its light commercial vehicle-truck export of $40 million 454 thousand.

According to this ranking, 8 of the top 10 countries in the export of motor vehicles for the transport of goods were European Union (EU) member countries.
