Foreign Investors Return to Selling on the Stock Market After a Week

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has released its weekly securities statistics, revealing a shift in foreign investor activity.

In the week ending December 20, foreign investors sold $169.2 million worth of stocks. This marked a reversal from the previous week, when foreign investors had made their largest stock purchases since early April, buying $318.7 million worth of shares in the week ending December 13.

As a result, the total stock holdings of foreign investors fell from $34.5 billion to $33.2 billion.

$337 Million in Bond Purchases
While foreign investors reduced their equity holdings, they showed significant interest in bonds. Last week, foreign investors purchased $336.8 million worth of bonds, increasing their bond stock from $17.2 billion to $17.6 billion.

This data highlights the changing investment trends of foreign investors in the Turkish financial markets.
