Work continues for the reopening of Adiyaman OIZ, which was affected by the earthquake

Work continues for the Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) to serve in Adiyaman, which was affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, which is described as the “disaster of the century”.

Adiyaman OSB Board Chairman Abdulkadir Celenk told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Adiyaman was heavily damaged in the earthquake.

Stating that 10 buildings in the OIZ were damaged in the earthquakes, Celenk stated that there was no problem in the infrastructure.

Explaining that they made the OSB operational, Celenk said:

“Our natural gas, electricity, water services are all right. We are in a position to start work now. However, most of our workers left the province due to the housing problem. We have to prevent this. We need to solve the housing problem of the workers. We are not strong enough to do this on our own. We have to deal with this problem with the help of the state or organized industrial zones. Otherwise, we will lose not only OSB but Adiyaman.”

Emphasizing that the OSB is Adiyaman’s “breadhouse”, Celenk continued his speech as follows:

“It has over 22 thousand employees. But by the end of this year, we had a target to increase it to 28 thousand. Our new constructions continue. Therefore, we need not waste existing human resources. If these workers go out of the province, we will not be able to recover. They are our trained personnel. We have a container demand from the state, especially from our sister OIZs. Hopefully, we can solve this together. We’ll get over this situation soon. We are now able to work. We’ll probably start at the beginning of the month.”
