Repkon has signed a high-volume contract with Germany for the establishment of a 155mm artillery ammunition production line. The Russia-Ukraine war has significantly increased the demand for artillery ammunition, prompting many countries to enhance their manufacturing capabilities in this sector.
Germany Expands Ammunition Production for NATO and Ukraine Support
Germany is taking steps to increase ammunition production due to its expanding defense requirements, military aid to Ukraine, and NATO commitments. Among the agreements made with the country’s leading defense industry companies, the expansion of 155mm artillery ammunition production plays a crucial role.
Repkon is a globally preferred company in the production of 155mm artillery ammunition. The company has previously signed agreements to establish ammunition production facilities in the United States, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. Now, Germany has joined this list.
The project in Germany is expected to be executed under the main contractorship of Bowas, a subsidiary of Repkon Holding. Bowas, established to meet increasing demands, operates in Austria and Switzerland. As part of the agreement, Repkon has signed a high-volume contract with a German company for a 155mm explosive filling facility dedicated to artillery ammunition production for the German Armed Forces.
One of the World’s Most Advanced Ammunition Filling Facilities
The facility, designed as a turnkey project, will increase Germany’s 155mm artillery ammunition production capacity and is expected to become operational in early 2027.
In addition to conventional artillery ammunition, the facility will also be used for filling modern, high-explosive next-generation munitions. The plant is being designed to operate with minimum human labor and maximum automation, making it one of the most technologically advanced explosive filling facilities in the world.
With this investment, Germany aims to enhance domestic ammunition production capacity and secure the supply of 155mm artillery shells. Following the contract signing, a significant order for 155mm artillery rounds has also been placed. Besides adding these ammunitions to its inventory, Germany is expected to allocate them for various uses under NATO and allied cooperation.
