Global crude steel production fell 3.3% in January

Global crude steel production decreased by 3.3% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, to 145.3 million tons.

World Steel Association (Worldsteel), headquartered in Brussels, announced January crude steel production data.

Accordingly, global crude steel production decreased by 3.3% in January compared to the same period of 2022, to 145.3 million tons.

It was estimated that the production of China, the world’s largest steel producer, increased by 2.3% to 79.5 million tons in the said period.

Japan’s production decreased by 6.9% to 7.2 million tons, Germany’s production decreased by 10.2% to 2.9 million tons, and the USA’s production decreased by 6.8% to 6.5 million tons.

Turkiye’s crude steel production, on the other hand, decreased by 17.6% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, and decreased to 2.6 million tons.

In the said period, it is estimated that steel production in Russia decreased by 8.9% to 5.8 million tons, while it increased by 27.7% to 2.7 million tons in Iran.
