Global Semiconductor Sales Hit Record High of $791.7 Billion in 2025

WASHINGTON — Global semiconductor sales reached a record $791.7 billion in 2025, marking a 25.6% year-on-year increase, according to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

The figure represents the highest annual total ever recorded for the industry. Global semiconductor sales had amounted to $630.5 billion in 2024.

Regional Performance

On a regional basis, semiconductor sales growth in 2025 varied significantly:

  • Asia Pacific and other regions: up 45%
  • Americas: up 30.5%
  • China: up 17.3%
  • Europe: up 6.3%
  • Japan: down 4.7%

2026 Outlook: $1 Trillion Target

Commenting on the data, John Neuffer, President and CEO of the SIA, said global semiconductor sales are expected to reach approximately $1 trillion in 2026.

Emphasizing that semiconductors form the backbone of nearly all modern technologies, Neuffer noted that rising demand driven by artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), 6G, and autonomous driving technologies is expected to continue supporting strong growth in the coming years.

Neuffer also stressed the importance of policy support, urging decision-makers in Washington to prioritize measures that strengthen the domestic chip ecosystem.

“A globally competitive U.S. semiconductor industry will enable us to support economic growth, strengthen national security, and remain at the forefront of the technological leadership race in the 21st century,” he said.
