Google launches new AI initiative
Google announced the new initiative at the AI Connect event held at the Etihad Museum in Dubai. The event was attended by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications in the United Arab Emirates. Hundreds of government representatives, developers, and entrepreneurs were present at the event.
Additionally, Google announced that its charitable division, Google.org, will provide approximately $15 million by the end of 2027 to ensure that AI benefits users.
Ruth Porat, Alphabet and Google President and Chief Investment Officer, stated at the event: “AI is estimated to contribute $320 billion in economic growth for the Middle East by 2030,and Google is working to ensure that people and communities throughout the region have the skills needed to capture the upside of this emerging technology.”
It is worth mentioning that Google trained nearly three million people in basic digital skills since 2018, and the company plans to empower around 500,000 individuals with essential AI skills.
The new initiative will focus on building AI skills, supporting research, providing relevant products, and enhancing necessary infrastructure.
