ANKARA — Türkiye will provide grants of up to 75% for projects aimed at bringing idle agricultural land back into production, under a new government support program designed to increase crop output and utilize unused farmland.
The initiative was introduced through the “Decision on Supporting the Effective Use of Agricultural Lands,” which was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force starting Jan. 1. The program focuses on lands that remain uncultivated or are left fallow and aims to boost plant production through appropriate agricultural methods.
Up to 75% grant support
Under the program, investment projects designed to increase crop production on idle farmland will be eligible for grant support covering up to 75% of costs. The support will target areas that are not currently cultivated, are left fallow, or are otherwise underutilized for farming.
Projects will be prepared by provincial directorates of agriculture and forestry and must be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The support will apply to agricultural lands registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS).
Aim: increase production and utilize unused land
The government aims to increase plant-based agricultural production, expand the use of idle farmland, and strengthen agricultural output across the country through the program. By encouraging farmers to cultivate unused land, authorities hope to improve productivity and contribute more effectively to the national economy.
The policy is part of broader efforts to ensure that agricultural lands are used more efficiently and to support farmers in developing sustainable production projects.
