GSK Agrees $10.6 Billion Acquisition of U.S. Biopharma Firm Nuvalent

LONDON, June 9, 2026 — British pharmaceutical company GSK has reached an agreement to acquire U.S.-based clinical-stage biotechnology company Nuvalent in a deal valued at $10.6 billion, the company announced on Tuesday.

According to GSK, the acquisition will strengthen its oncology portfolio by adding Nuvalent’s targeted cancer therapies, which are focused on precision treatments for patients with lung cancer. The transaction includes three lung cancer-related assets within a single deal structure.

Nuvalent, headquartered in Boston, is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company specializing in the development of precision medicines designed to target specific cancer-driving mutations. GSK said the acquisition aligns with its strategy of expanding its presence in innovative cancer treatments.

While the headline value of the transaction is $10.6 billion, GSK stated that its net investment, after accounting for acquired cash assets, is expected to be approximately $9.4 billion.

The deal marks one of the largest pharmaceutical acquisitions of 2026 and underscores continued consolidation in the oncology sector as major drugmakers seek to bolster their pipelines with promising targeted therapies
