Housing sales in Turkey increased by 59% in November

Housing sales across Turkey increased by 59.0% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 178 thousand 814.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the house sales statistics for November 2021. Accordingly, house sales across Turkey increased by 59.0% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 178 thousand 814. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 31,706 house sales and 17.7%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 17 thousand 117 house sales and 9.6% share, and Izmir with 11 thousand 116 sales and 6.2% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 36 houses, Ardahan with 65 houses and Bayburt with 98 houses, respectively.

HOUSING SALES DECREASED 9.2% IN JANUARY-NOVEMBER PERIOD

Housing sales decreased by 9.2% in the January-November period compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 1 million 265 thousand 353.

REAL ESTATE SALES OF MORTGAGED HOUSING WAS REALIZED AS 39 THOUSAND 366

Mortgaged house sales across Turkey increased by 61.0% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 39 thousand 366. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 22.0%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-November period, on the other hand, decreased by 55.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 249 thousand 270.

139,448 OTHER HOUSE SALES WERE REALIZED

Other house sales in Turkey increased by 58.4% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 139 thousand 448. The share of other sales in total house sales was 78.0%. Other house sales realized in the January-November period, on the other hand, increased by 21.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 1 million 16 thousand 83.

THE NUMBER OF SALES OF THE FIRST HAND HOUSING WAS REALIZED AS 55 THOUSAND 706

The number of first-hand house sales in Turkey increased by 52.0% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 55 thousand 706. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 31.2%. In the January-November period, first-hand house sales decreased by 11.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 384 thousand 776.

123 THOUSAND 108 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND HAND HOUSING SALES

Second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 62.4% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 123 thousand 108. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 68.8%. Second-hand house sales, on the other hand, decreased by 8.3% in the January-November period compared to the same period of the previous year, and amounted to 880 thousand 577.

7 thousand 363 houses were sold to foreigners in November

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 48.4% in November compared to the same month of the previous year and became 7,363. The share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.1%. Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 2,922 house sales. Antalya was followed by Antalya with 1,917 sales, and Ankara with 428 sales, respectively.

BY COUNTRY NATIONALITY, MOST HOUSING SALES ARE MADE TO IRANIAN CITIZENS

In November, Iranian citizens bought 1,406 houses from Turkey. The citizens of Iran were followed by the citizens of Iraq with 1,755 residences, and the citizens of the Russian Federation with 836 residences, respectively.
