Turkiye: Tow truck exports increased by 61% to $739 million 946 thousand

Approximately $740 million of foreign currency inflow was obtained from the tractor exports from Turkiye in the first 6 months of the year.

According to the compilation of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB) data, the attractive manufacturing industry, one of the subgroups of the automotive industry, increased its exports in the January-June period by 61.15% compared to the same period of 2021.

The tractor export, which was $459 million 157 thousand in the same period of last year, increased to $739 million 946 thousand in the same period this year.

In the first half of 2022, sector representatives made the highest export sales to Germany among the 60 countries they exported to. Exports to this country increased by 16% compared to the same months of 2021, increasing from $108 million 759 thousand to $126 million 306 thousand. Exports to Germany accounted for 17% of total tractor exports.

Tow truck manufacturers increased their exports to Poland, which ranks second, by 30.6% in 6 months, from $84 million 343 thousand to $110 million 159 thousand.

In the same period, exports to Spain, which ranks third, increased by 84.47% from $44 million 546 thousand to $82 million 172 thousand.

France ranked fourth with an increase of 83% and $79 million 140 thousand of tractor exports.

The exports of the sector representatives to Germany, Poland, Spain and France corresponded to 53.75% of the total tractor exports in January-June.

EU countries were at the forefront in terms of exports

In the first half of the year, the export of tractor trucks to Italy, which ranks fifth, increased by 46.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, from $49 million 352 thousand to $72 million 101 thousand.

In the same period of this year, $42 million 585 thousand were sold to the United Kingdom, which was not exported to the United Kingdom in January-June 2021.

Belgium ranked 7th with $28 million 153 thousand, Portugal 8th with $26 million 420 thousand, the Netherlands 9th with $24 million 840 thousand, and Hungary 10th with $18 million 170 thousand of tractor exports.

In the first half of the year, the top 10 countries to which the most tractors were exported were the European Union (EU) members, excluding the United Kingdom.

Tractors were sent to Norway, Iran, Afghanistan, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, New Zealand, Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan, Mauritania, Ireland, Greece, Australia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Libya, Tanzania, and Mali, which were not exported in the same period of the previous year, in 6 months of this year.
