IATA World Cargo Symposium started with the hosting of Turkish Cargo

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat said, “Air cargo transportation plays a critical role in the continuity of the world economy and supply chain.”

IATA World Cargo Symposium (WCS), ‘the world’s largest air cargo event’, started in Istanbul.

According to the statement of Turkish Airlines, the event, which started today and will continue until April 27, hosted by Turkish Cargo, is one of the important milestones of global air cargo transportation.

The symposium, which is held in a different city every year, is recognized as the ‘most prestigious organization’ of the air cargo industry worldwide. The event brings together industry leaders, airlines, cargo operators, airfreight agents and other industry stakeholders to discuss the latest trends, best practices and innovations in the air cargo industry.

IATA WCS 2023 is expected to make a significant contribution to the sustainability and digitization journey of the global air cargo industry, as well as reinforce safety and security awareness in the industry. The symposium offers Istanbul the opportunity to attract the business world with its potential to become a logistics center beyond being the crossroads of world trade.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Bolat, whose views are included in the statement, said, “We are happy to be hosting the World Cargo Symposium 2023 event, worthy of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of our Republic. Air cargo transportation plays a critical role in the continuity of the world economy and supply chain. Our meeting today at the hub of global aviation once again underlines the potential of Istanbul for the future of the logistics industry.’

Willie Walsh, General Manager of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), stated that Istanbul will be the air cargo capital of the world for 3 days and used the following statements:

‘We last met in Istanbul for the World Cargo Symposium in 2011, we are happy to be here again in 2023, when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkiye. This year’s WCS promises to be an unforgettable event for the cargo industry to come together to discuss how sustainability, safety and reliability can be improved, as well as to seize the opportunities that arise with new markets, technologies and digitalisation.’
