IKMIB President Adil Pelister: Chemical industry exports grew by 38.59% in the second quarter

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), made a written assessment of the Turkish economy’s growth data for the second quarter of 2022, announced today by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

Pelister noted in her assessment:

“OUR COUNTRY ACHIEVED A TRIPLE GROWTH IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2022”

“After growing 7.3% in the first quarter of 2022, our country achieved a stronger growth of 7.6% in the second quarter. In terms of sectoral growth, there is an annual increase of 7.8% in the industry in the second quarter. Exports of goods and services increased by 16.4% in the second quarter. The contribution of net exports to growth was 2.7 points.”

“AS THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY, WE ARE WORKING TO CONTINUE OUR EXPORT PERFORMANCE”

“As the export leader, our chemical industry grew by 38.59% in the second quarter compared to the second quarter of 2021 and exported $9.27 billion. Compared to the first quarter of this year, there is an increase in exports of more than 23%. As the chemical industry, we are working to maintain a stable export performance. On the other hand, we closely follow the inflation pressure, parity and exchange rate fluctuations, commodity prices and developments in the nearby geography. Our exporters have the highest expectations in terms of access to finance. Alternative market studies and high value-added production investments are important against the recession risk. The growth of our country will accelerate with the investments and incentives to be made in the chemical sector, which provides input to all sectors. For this reason, we, as IKMIB, continue our efforts to activate the Chemistry Technology Center, which will build the future of our industry.”
