Information on brain aneurysm treatment from Invamed Turkiye

The aneurysm, which usually occurs as a result of thinning of the artery wall, can burst when it reaches a certain size and cause a brain hemorrhage.

Thanks to the ‘Spider Detectable Coil’ developed in Invamed R&D laboratories and produced in the production campus and used to treat brain aneurysms, aneurysm sacs are detected, and the bubbles formed in the brain are closed and treated with the help of detachable mechanical metal coils called coils through microcatheters.

According to the statement made by Invamed, a brain aneurysm is defined as bubble-shaped swellings in the brain vessels.

The aneurysm, which usually occurs as a result of thinning of the artery wall, can burst when it reaches a certain size and cause a brain hemorrhage. Unruptured or unexploded brain aneurysms usually do not cause any symptoms, and are often discovered incidentally during examinations performed for different reasons.

However, especially in case of further enlargement of the aneurysm, symptoms may occur due to the compression of some regions of the brain due to the mass effect. In this case, conditions such as drooping eyelids and headaches can be observed.

When bleeding occurs, the symptoms include short-term loss of consciousness, nausea and vomiting, meaningless speech, changes in vision, neck stiffness and gait disturbances, due to the problem that can cause a severe headache that has not been felt before.

This medical condition, which can result in death or paralysis, affects approximately 500,000 people worldwide each year. Surgical clipping is used in the treatment of brain aneurysms, and mesh insertion methods under general anesthesia are used, especially in larger sizes and in cases where clipping does not work.

An important alternative to these is endovascular coiling, which is usually performed with the aid of a catheter from the groin, without surgical operation to the skull. ‘Spider Detectable Coil’, developed in Invamed R&D laboratories and produced on the production campus, is designed to treat brain aneurysms thanks to neurovascular coils.

Thanks to this application, also known as cerebral aneurysm embolization, aneurysm sacs are detected, and the bubbles formed in the brain are closed and treated with the help of detachable mechanical metal coils called coils through microcatheters.

Spider Detectable Coil can also be used for embolization of other neurovascular abnormalities such as arteriovenous malformations (AVM) and arteriovenous fistulas.

Spider Detectable Coil provides a smooth and comfortable application with its special design, pushable mechanism, fast, reliable mechanical separation and 360 degree axial rotation.
