ISTANBUL, June 13, 2026 — Türkiye İş Bankası has secured a 367-day sustainable syndicated loan worth approximately $1.3 billion, reinforcing its access to international funding and supporting its long-term sustainability and green-finance objectives.
The financing package consists of $658.8 million and €520.3 million, and will be used under the bank’s Sustainable Finance Framework to fund projects and activities that generate environmental and social benefits.
The transaction attracted strong international participation despite continued volatility in global financial markets. A total of 47 banks from 18 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas joined the syndication, highlighting continued confidence in both İş Bankası and the Turkish banking sector.
According to the bank, the deal was completed at a lower cost than the previous year’s syndication, reflecting favorable investor demand and the institution’s strong standing in international credit markets.
İş Bankası Chief Executive Officer Hakan Aran said the successful renewal of last year’s syndicated facility demonstrates continued international confidence in both the bank and the Turkish economy. He noted that the funding will support sustainable economic growth while helping advance the bank’s climate-transition strategy and net-zero commitments.
The lender plans to use the proceeds to expand green-financing solutions, support clients in carbon-intensive sectors as they transition toward lower-emission business models, and accelerate investments linked to sustainable development goals.
The transaction follows a broader trend of Turkish banks successfully raising funding from international markets. Recent syndicated loan deals by major lenders suggest that foreign financial institutions remain willing to provide long-term financing to Turkish banks despite global economic uncertainties.
Why it matters: The successful syndication strengthens İş Bankası’s foreign-currency funding base, supports lending capacity for businesses, and signals continued international investor confidence in Türkiye’s banking sector and sustainable-finance initiatives.
