Istanbul Chamber of Industry: Export Climate Index Rises to 50.4 in June

The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) announced that the Türkiye Manufacturing Export Climate Index increased to 50.4 in June, up from 50.3 in May, signaling a modest improvement in demand conditions across the country’s key export markets. A reading above the 50.0 threshold indicates improving business conditions, while a figure below 50.0 points to deterioration.

The latest data marked the 30th consecutive month of improving export market conditions for Turkish manufacturers. Although the pace of improvement remained moderate, the June reading suggests that external demand continued to strengthen despite ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.

Among Türkiye’s major export destinations, the United States continued to record growth in business activity, providing support for Turkish exporters. Meanwhile, economic conditions across Europe remained mixed. Germany and France, two of Türkiye’s largest export markets, continued to experience weak output, while demand showed greater resilience in several other markets.

The report also highlighted a gradual recovery in parts of the Middle East following recent regional disruptions. Business activity improved in several Gulf economies, helping offset weaker performance in some European markets. However, geopolitical tensions continue to pose risks to international trade and global demand.

Commenting on the findings, Andrew Harker, Economics Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said that while the overall export climate continued to improve in June, the recovery remained uneven across regions. He noted that geopolitical developments are likely to continue influencing international demand and export prospects in the coming months.
