
Borsa Istanbul (BIST) opened the week with losses. The BIST 100 index closed the day down 1.28%, ending at 10,225.48 points, led by sharp declines in the banking sector, which saw a 3.52% loss. Concerns over renewed trade wars sparked by U.S. tariff threats weighed heavily on global markets, and the Istanbul market followed suit with a sell-off dominated by banking stocks.
• BIST 100 fell by 132.98 points compared to the previous close, with a total trading volume of 88.8 billion TL.
• The banking index dropped 3.52%, while the holding index lost 0.94%.
Banking: Worst Performing Sector
Among sector indices, banking recorded the biggest loss, while the best performing sector was securities investment trusts, up 1.88%.
BIST 30 Also Declines
The BIST 30 index, comprising the largest and most liquid companies, dropped by 151.74 points or 1.31%, closing at 11,413.80 points.

• The industrial index fell 0.57%,
• The services index slipped 0.04%.
