Istanbul’s exports exceeded $7.5 billion in January

Exports of companies from Istanbul increased by 8.4% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, and reached $7 billion 576 million.

Istanbul, the heart of the Turkish economy, continues its exports without slowing down. Istanbul, which is the crossroads of economic activity in the world, continues to be at the top of Turkiye’s exports by a wide margin.

Being an international trade center, Istanbul has an important place in world trade with its geopolitical location.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), the export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by 8.4% in January compared to the same period of the previous year and rose to $7 billion 576 million.

Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $1.3 billion, Bursa with $1.2 billion, Izmir with $1.1 billion and Gaziantep with $802.8 million, Ankara with $781.3 million, Sakarya with $541.9 million, Manisa with $353.5 million, Denizli with $309.1 million and Mersin with $274.4 million followed.

The share of companies from Istanbul, which delivered their products to 207 points of the world in January, in Turkiye’s exports was 39.1%.

Companies from Istanbul made the highest increase in exports

Last month, companies from Istanbul realized the highest increase in exports on a provincial basis. Export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by $583.9 million in January compared to the same period of the previous year.

Istanbul was followed by Sakarya with $113.1 million, Gaziantep with $85.1 million, İzmir with $79.2 million, Ankara with $66.4 million, Balıkesir with $38.5 million and Konya with $34.8 million, Adana with $28.5 million, Bursa with $27.1 million and Tekirdag with $26.2 million.

Last month, Balikesir made exports of $100.5 million, Konya $250.6 million, and Adana $235.2 million.

The industrial sector carried the exports of Istanbul

In January, Istanbul’s exports were carried by the industrial sector.

The top 8 sectors that made the most foreign sales from Istanbul in this period are within the industry group.

In the first month of the year, the largest exports in Istanbul were chemicals and products with $1.4 billion, ready-made clothing and apparel with $1.2 billion, and automotive industry with $661.2 million, electricity and electronics sectors with $641 million, steel with $550.7 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $540 million, jewelry with $388.3 million, textiles and raw materials with $344.6 million.

Companies from Istanbul made the highest export to Germany with $679.1 million.

Germany was followed by the USA with $422 million, the Russian Federation with $393.5 million, the United Kingdom with $357.4 million, and Spain with $335.6 million.
