ITO President: “A new era begins at IDTM, 15-year-old problem is solved”

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Sekib Avdagic said, “A new era begins at Istanbul World Trade Center (IDTM), the 15-year-old problem is being resolved.”

In the statement made by IDTM, it was stated that 6 of the 8 exhibition halls owned by IDTM were previously taken back from the tenant company CNR with a court decision. In the statement, which stated that the evacuation process of the last 2 exhibition halls remaining in the tenant company as of yesterday continues, “We believe that when the process is completed, all of the most modern exhibition halls in Turkey belonging to IDTM will serve all domestic and foreign exhibition organizers from now on.”

Sekib Avdagic, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITO and IDTM, whose views are included in the statement, said, “A new era is beginning in the operation of the most modern halls of Turkey, owned by IDTM. IDTM will also open the fairgrounds it has bought back from the tenant to competition and manage it in a way that will serve everyone on equal terms, develop our trade and increase our fair organization. Thus, the process of transferring all the halls to IDTM, which is the real owner of the venue, is completed.”

Expressing that this development will be a new turning point for the Turkish fair sector, Avdagic said:

“I believe that we will see the positive reflections of this development on our commercial life in a short time, which will end the structure that harms the Turkish fair organization and sector actors. All 11 halls of IDTM’s most modern exhibition center in Turkey, renovated with the latest technology, will be offered to all domestic and foreign exhibition organizers on equal terms for rent. The Turkish business world will be the biggest winner of the new era that started at IDTM, which set out to make Istanbul the capital of world fairs and has one of the largest fairgrounds in Turkey.”

“AS IDTM MANAGEMENT, WE DID NOT AND WE WILL NOT BE AN EXHIBITION ORGANIZER”

Avdagic stated that opening all fair halls to all domestic and foreign fair organizer companies by IDTM would be a very important step to prevent unfair competition in the sector and used the following statements:

“As IDTM, we have an equal and fair approach to prevent unfair competition and to organizers. Hereby, I would like to remind one more of our principles. As IDTM management, we have not been and will not be an exhibition organizer. This feature is our most important principle that will prevent unfair competition in the sector and ensure trust in IDTM as a superior institution. We evaluated the pandemic period as the renewal period of IDTM. We built halls with the best infrastructure and modern face of Turkey by completely renovating our halls in order to revive the fair organization sector.”
