Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, stating that since 2003, great progress has been made in Turkiye’s communication infrastructure, “The total number of broadband internet subscribers has reached 91.6 million, 72.5 million of which are mobile internet subscribers.”
In his statement, Minister Uraloglu evaluated the Turkish Electronic Communications Industry Quarterly Market Data Report for the first quarter of 2023 of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK).
Uraloglu stated that in the first quarter of 2023, 526 thousand kilometers of fiber infrastructure has been reached with an increase of around 9.1% compared to the previous year, and the number of fiber internet subscribers is approximately 6.1 million.
Uraloglu stated that as of the first quarter of the year, 459 companies authorized by the BTK have 830 authorization certificates.
“The net sales revenues of TT Mobil, Turkcell, Turk Telekom and Vodafone were approximately ₺30.8 billion, while the total revenues of other operators amounted to ₺10.7 billion. As of the beginning of 2023, the number of mobile subscribers was 90.7 million, while the prevalence of mobile subscribers was 106.3%. It was observed that 84 million of mobile subscribers preferred 4.5G subscriptions that started service in 2016, and the total number of 4.5G subscribers reached 92 million, with M27 subscribers.”
Expressing that the total number of mobile numbers ported exceeded 169.5 million as of the beginning of 2023, Uraloglu made the following assessment in summary:
“However, in the first quarter of the year, 2 million 257 thousand 266 number porting transactions were realized, decreasing by 20.9% compared to the previous quarter. When the number of internet subscribers is examined, the total number of broadband internet subscribers was 91.6 million, of which 72.5 million were mobile. In the first quarter of 2023, 526 thousand kilometers of fiber infrastructure was reached with an increase of around 9.1% compared to the previous year. In the first quarter of the year, the average number of fiber internet subscribers reached 526 thousand kilometers. It has been 89 minutes. There are currently 6 authorized electronic certificate service providers in our country. As of the end of March 2023, a total of 7.56 million electronic certificates, including 6.7 million electronic signatures and 887 thousand mobile signatures, have been created by these electronic certificate service providers.”
