Japan’s Consul General in Istanbul, Iwama Ryoji, visited Güler Sabancı, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hacı Ömer Sabancı Foundation, on September 29 to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
According to a statement from the Consulate General of Japan in Istanbul, Iwama thanked Sabancı for her contributions to strengthening Japan-Türkiye friendship and bilateral relations through organizations including the Sabancı Foundation and Sabancı Holding.
Potential Cooperation Between the Consulate and Sabancı Foundation
During the meeting, Iwama and Sabancı exchanged views on potential future cooperation between the Consulate General of Japan in Istanbul and the Sabancı Foundation.
The visit focused on opportunities to further develop cooperation and strengthen ties between the two countries through joint initiatives.
Sabancı Received Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun
Güler Sabancı was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, one of Japan’s longstanding and prestigious decorations, in September 2024.
She became the first Turkish woman to receive the distinction.
