Jewellery manufacturing zone to be built in Trabzon

The “Jewellery City” project, where the production stages of Kazaziye and Trabzon mat made by knitting gold or silver wires will be shown and the products will be put on sale, will be implemented.

In Trabzon, the “Jewellery City” project, to which the Ministry of Industry and Technology will provide financing within the scope of the Attraction Centers Support Program, will be implemented.

Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) Chairman Suat Hacisalihoglu told Anadolu Agency (AA) that they are working to revitalize the sector in Trabzon, which is famous for its mat and kazaziye.

Hacisalihoglu stated that they developed a strategic plan for the sector as a result of the workshops they held with TTSO profession members in the past years and that they examined exemplary projects implemented in various countries.

He reminded that Trabzon’s mat and kazaziye, which are among traditional handicrafts, are among the products that receive geographical indications and said, “The Jewellery City Project was prepared for the promotion of these two products and to create added value in economic terms by being sold to more people and at the same time to develop further employment.”

Hacisalihoglu emphasized that Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality allocated a place in Pazarkapi Street for the project to be financed by the Ministry, “The project is the project of our city. Everyone is doing their best on behalf of the city.”

He pointed out that various projects such as Planetarium and Science Center will be implemented by the Metropolitan Municipality in the area where the jewellery city will be built, and stated that the jewellery city is planned to be built on two floors in accordance with other buildings to be built here.

The construction stages of the Trabzon mat and kazaziye will be shown

Hacisalihoglu stated that the works are continuing to make some changes on the project and the cost will become clear after this stage and that the tender is made in a short time and it is aimed to start construction within a few months.

He pointed out that there will be workshops in the jewellery city where all stages such as making wire mesh and kazaziye from metal, knitting, and shaping can be seen and made the following assessment:

“We will be able to show the visitors live how the Trabzon mat and the kazaziye are produced from gold or silver wire. At the same time, the products will be sold to the tourists in the jewellery city. Depending on the tourism movement in the region, a significant amount of local and foreign tourists come to our city, we believe that all of them will be the focal point. We think that the tourists who come here will shop to take them with them as a souvenir after visiting the system.”

Underlining that the project, which will be implemented in consideration of international standards, will contribute to Trabzon, therefore to the region and the country, Hacisalihoglu thanked the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Metropolitan Mayor Murat Zorluoglu and everyone who contributed.
