Karel Signs Two Strategic Partnerships at IDEF 2025

At the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), Karel Defence Technologies not only showcased its latest innovations but also signed two strategic cooperation agreements with HAVELSAN and TUSAŞ, marking significant steps in expanding its reach into global defense markets.

Speaking about the development, Karel Defence Technologies Group President Yavuz Bayız said:

“The agreements we signed with HAVELSAN and TUSAŞ are crucial milestones in our goal to bring domestic technologies to international markets and deliver system-level solutions.”

According to a company statement, Karel is evolving beyond being just a product developer. It aims to position itself as a system integrator providing end-to-end solutions.

The IDEF 2025 fair, hosted by Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense and supported by the Presidency of Defence Industries, was organized by KFA Fuarcılık AŞ under the management of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. Anadolu Agency served as the event’s Global Communication Partner.

Agreements Signed at the Fair

Karel, through its Romanian subsidiary Karel Europe, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HAVELSAN to develop high-tech integrated solutions for the European defense market. The agreement includes joint business development activities and operational cooperation in defense and information technologies.

Karel also expanded its ongoing collaboration with TUSAŞ for adapting its Backup Flight Indicator (BFI) system—originally designed for rotary-wing aircraft—to fixed-wing platforms. Under the new agreement, Karel and TUSAŞ engineering teams will jointly handle the hardware, software, integration, and testing processes required for the adaptation.

Innovative Products Attract Attention

Karel showcased three of its cutting-edge communication solutions, developed with nearly 40 years of engineering expertise. These products received strong interest from attendees:

  • 5G Private Mobile Network: Enables secure and portable communication for military units, ideal for tactical field use.
  • In-Vehicle Communication Gateway: Offers seamless and secure transmission of video, audio, and data across various communication protocols in military land vehicles.
  • MOBAT Operational Headset: Features noise-canceling technology, enhanced situational awareness, and 3D sound positioning to improve field communication and safety.

“A Strategic Opportunity”

Yavuz Bayız emphasized that IDEF 2025 was more than a showcase—it was a strategic opportunity to demonstrate their cooperation vision in defense technologies.

He added:

“What sets us apart is our ability to manage everything in-house—from R&D and hardware/software development to PCB design and production processes. This integrated approach is our greatest strength.”
