Karsan continues its European growth strategy by strengthening its position in Romania’s electric public transport market.
Karsan, a leading Turkish manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles, has signed two new contracts with the municipalities of Chitila and Focșani in Romania. According to the company’s official statement, the agreements cover the delivery of a total of 42 e-ATA electric buses—21 units for each city. The 10-meter-long buses are scheduled to be delivered by next year.
With this new order, the total number of Karsan electric vehicles operating in Chitila will reach 44, while Focșani’s fleet will grow to 47. Karsan currently operates in over 40 Romanian cities and has delivered a total of 380 electric vehicles across the country to date, further cementing its role in Romania’s sustainable transportation transformation.
Karsan CEO Okan Baş emphasized the strategic importance of Romania in the company’s European journey. “With our vision of being ‘One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility,’ we are committed to growing in our target markets through our strong products and innovative solutions,” he said.
Baş highlighted Karsan’s robust market position in Romania, noting that the company ranks second in the country’s electric public transport sector. “This is not only a numerical success but also a concrete reflection of the sustainable, innovative, and user-friendly solutions we offer,” he added.
He also credited the company’s momentum to the trust placed in its brand and best-in-class models, which reinforces Karsan’s ambition to expand further on a global scale. “Our ongoing and strong communication with users in Romania lays the foundation for development and long-term cooperation,” Baş stated.
The CEO also pointed to the crucial role of their local partner, Anadolu Automobile Rom (AAR), in achieving operational success and high customer satisfaction. “Our widespread field presence in Romania and our well-coordinated partnership with AAR have positioned Karsan as a trusted solution provider in the country’s public transport transformation,” he concluded.
