Kastamonu’s Uryani Plum got registered with geographical indication

“Kastamonu Uryani Plum” was given a geographical indication registration certificate by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.

In the written statement made by Daday Municipality, it was wished that the registration would be beneficial for the district, Kastamonu and Turkey.

Emphasizing that the recognition of Uryani plum will increase with the registration, the following was noted:

“Uryani plum is the main product of Kastamonu. This product is a valuable fruit of Kastamonu, which is also sent to foreign countries. The fresh fruit of Uryani plum is called red plum. The peeled and dried form of red plum is called Uryani plum. The skin of the red plum fruit is peeled to dry it. The peeled plums are arranged one by one on clean pine boards. The places where the boards are placed should be exposed to the sun and away from dust and moisture. The plums are left to dry for 15 days. Dried plums have a rich source of fiber. Uryani plum compote is one of the unchangeable flavors of Kastamonu cuisine.”
