According to the first quarter of 2023, Turkiye ranks 13th when compared to other countries in terms of gaming investments. Investments in gaming startups, which were calmer compared to last year, continue to move.
Local game studio Lumier Games, which has been operating since May 2021 and has developed prototypes of more than 50 HyperCasual types, received its first investment of ₺1 million over ₺7 million valuation with the participation of Hakki Alkan, who owns companies operating in publishing and co-working fields.
Lumiar Games continues to work on an innovative game project in the competitive midcore match 3 genre. The investment will be used for the development of competitive new games expected to be completed soon, and for the company’s PR work.
Founding team of Istanbul-based game company Lumier Games, founded by Kuntay Koca, Burhan Yildirim and Cansu Demir in May 2021, has experience in different fields such as software, visual design, product development, R&D, test automation and project management.
Kuntay Koca, co-founder and CEO of the venture, said; “The four main elements in game development; As founding partners in software, visual design, product development and marketing, we have separate experiences in the first three elements, and we have consolidated the fourth element by joining forces with Hakki Alkan. We will use this power to produce midcore games that will meet the needs and expectations of the players, both competitive and single play. Hakki Alkan not only conveys his experiences in marketing and media with us, but also helps to alleviate our workforce in this field by taking the responsibility.”
Hakki Alkan, who has been in the technology media since 2001, shared that he would be closer to the entrepreneurial ecosystem with Co-Founder.Work, the co-working space he launched in the past months. He took one of the other steps of this closeness by making his first investment in a local startup today.
Hakki Alkan, who made his first investment in Lumier Games, said; “We accelerated our work in this area together with our media companies and Co-Founder.Work, where we host 50 million videos a month and entrepreneurs. Our investment in the Lumier Games team, whose energy and experience we believe in, is just the beginning. Our investments in gaming, artificial intelligence, sustainability and community management will continue.”
Lumier Games, while preparing the game development processes after the seed investment, is also preparing for a new investment round of $2 million.
