Turkish Airlines carried 6.5 million passengers in April

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced that it carried 6.5 million passengers in April, increasing the number of passengers by 31% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the statement made by the THY Press Office, the passenger and cargo traffic results of the company for April were included. The company carried a total of 6.5 million passengers this month, reaching an occupancy rate of 79.8%.

THY’s total number of passengers increased by 31% compared to the same period of 2022, and the international load factor was 79.7% and the domestic load factor was 80%.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 1.8 million in April 2022, it increased by 32.3% to 2.4 million in April this year.

While the kilometer traveled by the total number of seats supplied was 15.4 billion in April 2022, it reached 18.7 billion in April 2023 with an increase of 21.4%.

While the volume of cargo and mail transported was 146.4 thousand tons in April 2022, it decreased by 17.3% in the same period of this year and was recorded as 121 thousand tons.

The number of passengers carried increased by 33.6%

In the statement, which also included the January-April 2023 air traffic results evaluation, the following information was shared:

“Compared to the same period of 2022, the number of passengers carried increased by 33.6% to 23.6 million.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 5.9 million in the January-April 2022 period, it increased by 58.4% to 9.3 million in the same period of 2023.

Total passenger load factor increased by 9.4% in the January-April period compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 80.8%.

While the international load factor was 80.9%, the domestic load factor was 80.1%.

While the kilometer traveled by the total number of seats supplied was 54.2 billion in the January-April period last year, it increased by 29.9% in the same period of 2023 and reached 70.5 billion.

While the total volume of cargo and mail carried in the January-April period was 528.7 thousand tons in 2022, it was recorded as 473.7 thousand tons in 2023 with a decrease of 10.4%.

At the end of April, the number of aircraft in THY’s fleet increased to 414.
