There is a surge in franchise applications for Turka, the brand that will take over Turkey’s vehicle inspection services in 2027, following one of the largest public tenders in the country’s history. The MOI Consortium—which includes global leader Opus, Met-Gün İnşaat, and Itversia Gestion S.L—won the 20-year operational rights for the inspection stations, bringing $1.72 billion into the Treasury. The service will be operated under the Turka brand.
Operations Begin in 2027, But Preparations Already Underway
Although Turka will officially begin operating the inspection stations on August 16, 2027, preparations are already in full swing. Turka Executive Board Member Serhan Salman, speaking live on BloombergHT, emphasized the critical role vehicle inspections play in public safety, noting that over 61% of the vehicles in Turkey are more than 10 years old.
“There are more than 30 million vehicles in Turkey, and around 1 million are added every year. Last year alone, 12.5 million vehicles underwent inspections, and with re-inspections, that number reached 15 million,” Salman noted.
Franchise Demand Exceeds Expectations
Franchise interest in Turka has surpassed expectations. “The response really surprised us,” said Salman. “Our team started working around the clock. Unfortunately, working hours have extended—but this is the nature of such an intense process.” Franchise applications are now being received through www.turka.com, and Turka is applying specific criteria to select suitable partners.
New Approach to Inspections: More Stations, Cleaner Energy, and Enhanced Accessibility
Turka plans to significantly modernize and expand the inspection infrastructure:
- More Stations: The number of inspection stations will increase in line with the growing number of vehicles.
- Mobile Services: Mobile stations will be deployed, with customized services for motorcycles and electric vehicles.
- Green Energy: New stations will be equipped with solar panels, creating self-sustaining facilities powered by renewable energy.
- Disaster Preparedness: All stations will be designed to serve as temporary field hospitals during emergencies.
Commitment to Employment, Gender Equality, and Training
Salman announced a target of 4,500 new hires, with a strong focus on increasing female employment:
“We want to create inclusive spaces. One of our dreams is to open a station operated entirely by women.”
Turka also plans to establish an internal training academy to continuously upskill its workforce.
Customer-Centric Operations: Website and Call Center to Handle Feedback
Turka is already collecting customer feedback via its website and will launch a dedicated call center in the coming days. The company has been analyzing current customer complaints and is committed to resolving long-standing issues, such as long queues and inefficient payment systems.
Looking Ahead
Salman confirmed that from August 16, 2027, all vehicle inspection appointments in Turkey will be scheduled through Turka. “We’re reviewing every detail to offer a better experience. With growing demand and interest, our selection process for franchises will be rigorous to ensure high service quality,” he said.
