Massive Support for Livestock in Rural Areas: ₺270,000 Annual Care and Feeding Assistance

Türkiye’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, announced the launch of applications for the “Abundance in Rural Livestock Support Project,” stating, “We will provide ₺270,000 in annual care and feeding support to our producers.”

Increasing Domestic Meat Production and Reducing Imports
Minister Yumaklı emphasized that the project aims to boost domestic red meat production and reduce imports while maintaining high efficiency and quality standards. “The animals provided under this project will be both meat-producing and breeding stock,” he explained. He also noted that the beneficiaries of the program would be selected based on these criteria. “Livestock farms with a capacity of fewer than 200 animals and young women entering the livestock sector for the first time will be eligible for support,” he added.

Subsidized Loans for Farmers
The project will offer additional points to small family farms with fewer than 20 animals, young farmers under 40, women, producers in earthquake-affected regions, livestock farms in designated meat production zones, and members of primary agricultural organizations. “Each producer will receive between 5 and 15 pregnant animals. However, if the beneficiary is a veterinarian, agricultural engineer, or food engineer, this number will increase to 30,” Yumaklı stated.

Additionally, farmers will be able to access subsidized loans through Ziraat Bank, with a grace period of up to two years and repayment terms of three to five years.

Government to Intervene in Price Hikes Before Ramadan
Minister Yumaklı also addressed upcoming food inspections and measures before Ramadan. He assured that no product in the country is experiencing price increases due to supply shortages. He recalled meetings with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Ministry of Trade, and the retail sector, stating, “I believe we won’t experience such issues before Ramadan. Even if we do, they will be localized, and the government will intervene swiftly.”
