Migros Named to CDP “Global A Leaders” List for Third Consecutive Year

ISTANBUL – Turkish retail giant Migros has been included for the third consecutive year in the “Global A Leaders” list published by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its performance in both Climate Change and Water Security programs.

According to a company statement, Migros once again received CDP’s highest possible rating of “A” in the latest assessment of climate and water management practices, placing it among the world’s leading companies in environmental transparency and sustainability.

With this latest recognition, Migros has entered the Climate Change A List for the seventh time and the Water Security A List for the fifth time, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to environmental leadership.

Climate Targets and Emissions Reduction

Migros has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 42% by 2030, in line with science-based targets compatible with the 1.5°C global warming scenario. Despite continued business growth, the company has achieved a 16.4% reduction in carbon emissions over the past four years.

Aligned with its net-zero emissions target for 2050, Migros is focusing on renewable energy investments and partnerships. The company plans to meet one-third of its total energy consumption from its own solar power plants by the end of 2026.

Sustainable Supply Chain and Innovation

Under its “Good Future Plan”, Migros actively involves its suppliers in sustainability efforts. Through its Sustainable Business Partners Network, the company shares knowledge and best practices with suppliers to jointly reduce the carbon footprint of products sold in its stores.

Migros is also working to expand the use of its patented water-based cooling system, which reduces carbon emissions by up to 90%, while continuing trials of low-carbon refrigerant gases across its operations.

Water Management Initiatives

In the area of water security, Migros aims to reduce total water consumption across its operations by 10% by 2030. The company is also conducting awareness programs for farmers to promote technology-supported efficient irrigation methods, supporting more sustainable agricultural practices.
