Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said the government will continue implementing measures to accelerate the textile industry’s green and digital transformation, boost productivity and technological capabilities, and strengthen its capacity for higher value-added production and exports.
Kacır made the remarks in a post on his NSosyal account following his visit to Texhibition Istanbul, organized at the Istanbul Expo Center under the leadership of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB).
He emphasized that the textile industry, with its strong production infrastructure and export capabilities, makes a significant contribution to Türkiye’s economic development, employment and prosperity.
“We are supporting our companies through incentives, our Employment Protection Program and financing opportunities in order to preserve the sector’s competitiveness and further strengthen its position in global markets,” Kacır said.
Despite the challenges facing the global economy, Kacır noted that Türkiye had maintained approximately 1.2 million jobs in labor-intensive sectors—including textiles, apparel, leather and furniture—since the beginning of 2026, supported by manufacturers’ efforts and government measures.
He said the government would continue taking decisive steps to accelerate the textile sector’s green and digital transformation, improve productivity and technological capabilities, and strengthen its capacity to produce and export higher value-added products.
Kacır also stated that the government would continue working to accelerate the transformation of Türkiye’s industrial sector, improve companies’ technology and R&D capabilities, and strengthen qualified employment.
The minister’s remarks underline the government’s focus on improving the competitiveness of Türkiye’s textile industry as manufacturers face increasing pressure to adapt to global sustainability requirements and digitalization trends.
